i am considering asking my supervisor to be laid off. i know its crazy but i really hate working here. its degrading and depressing and some times embarrassing as the poor reputation we have in the industry.

There are people who have asked and received. FEW. But it wasn’t quick or easy
Noble incentives their staff to go through the motions and not quit, because most of them know they will never be fired (for cause) and there will always be a severance package on the other side even in the worst of times. Another one of the many reasons why they are a poorly run company.
Just wait, there will probably be more layoffs.
At the end of the day you have to do what makes you happy and keeps you healthy. But financial stability is also a big factor. Everyone's case is different.
Put together a good business case and talk to your boss confidentially. It may be a win-win opportunity.

They will not give you a package. He will force your supervisor to terminate you. You better off quiting.
