Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

ABFS technicians / Network Technical Specialists

Can you share any details concerning the ABFS technicians / Network Technical Specialists? In OOR areas of the country, there are more technicians than there is work. Techs are basically getting paid full time pay for a part time work! How long can this lack of productivity last before someone gets wise to it? Techs are doing one order per day and sitting around with nothing to do after it’s completed!

That’s exactly what it’s like where I’m located, only working about 3 days per week! More techs than ABFS work and there’s always guys sitting around with nothing but free time! I can’t understand how this location gets away with it along with the other areas of the country that are slow! Looks like it might get even slower with less sales people!

In Wichita, Ks......There are 2 ABFS techs that are joined with the Specials Crew of 8. The work is very minimal. Maybe 3 jobs a week for ABFS and very slow in Specials. They keep telling them that it's a slow time of year. They've been hearing that for about 18 months. With no sales means not much work. How long will it last?

I’m an NTS but I’ve never heard of ABFS. I don’t know about other regions, but I have no shortage of work.

Y'all ain't the only folks sitting around holding the chairs down as we wait for the work that is "coming down the pipe".

Mid Atlantic area ABFS was busy in winter. Dead during 3 first months of Covid while the business chains scrambled. Now, strapping masks/gloves on and its back to busy again, and yeah dude, mind your business.

Not sure what you are wanting to know but I'm an abfs tech in southeast Florida. I will tell you our group has been inundated with work and there's more work coming. Work for Wells Fargo just began. We do a lot of cable pulling and terminating , install WiFi systems and routers and switches. Keeps us pretty busy.

Don’t know how all this promised work will magically appear when sales teams have been cut to the bone! There’s no incentive to sell when you know your days are numbered regardless of your efforts and big productivity numbers!

ABFS work just started picking up recently In the northeast NTS were recently split up between Flores and Townes but there there is over lapping work between inside and outside. Still not sure how this whole thing will shake out
