Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

LinkedIn "Thank You Big Blue for Screwing Me" Posts

What is it with these now laid off SLB employees thanking SLB on LinkedIn for a wonderful experience while being employed with Big Blue, but kicked you to the door like a pyscho Tinder date after they got their rocks off?

I get that posting a post on LinkedIn that Big Blue s—s the big one, that they just screwed you royally is not good for looking for future employment, but thanking SLB for a wonderful experience after sticking it to you with a lay off is just as bad.

As a hiring manager....both are bad form.

Many of those severed have payouts that are delayed, coming out of BACO. Better to s— a little a– and get the balance paid than risk it by telling the truth...a truth that the industry already knows...SLB may have more heads than their competitors, but in reality they are a garden variety service company that pay lip service to the 'People aspect" of their business.

People. Technology. Profit.

Yeah buddy.

Posting such messages on LinkedIn are all part of the new job hunt strategies that employment gurus and college career councilors are pitching. This involves building a "personal brand," and using the visibility "bump" that social media sites give to people that post frequently. It's similar to the coding community where people work for free to write and post codes to be considered for interviews. Yes, I also find it quite stomach churning, and feel that it degrades the LinkedIn experience. The site seems to be a gold mine of people s—ing up to former employers and writing self aggrandizing articles/posts.

"i guess that they want to leave the door open for rehire"...what so few of them know is that there is that little box next to their name that is or is not checked "Eligible for Rehire". No more, no less then other companies, those that have been thrown to the side by SLB are run the spectrum of good candidates for another position in another company, but having been an employee of SLB does not guarrantee that a hiring manager thinks favorably of you. I know that having SLB on your resume drops you down the rankings with hiring managers in some companies.

So true. I am sick of seeing those positive goodbye notes..., I guess they want to leave the door open for rehire. I personally wouldn’t post anything like this on LinkedIn. It really doesn’t help you to get a job!

News Flash, nobody really uses LinkedIn any longer. Been taken over by trolls, people posting political & religious messages, advertisers, and lastly.....people posting their solemn unemployment stories. You probably need to start looking at new careers (Amazon, Lockheed, Raytheon, etc) and stop hoping that there's a future in O&G.

The chip that makes you Borg remains in the long-term Blue Zombies. Remember, most of these pedantic twats cannot dress themselves in the morning without assistance.
