Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Lay-off page is quiet

It seems strange that the layoff page is as quiet as it is while we are hearing rumors of upcoming RIFs. Hearing July, August, and/or November; but nothing concrete though. Anyone have anything?

I dont think anyone argues the competence of GVII people compared to the GVI team. The GVII is a flying t–d.

The G700 has some competent people. They just need to keep the 500/600 engineers and their managers in a rubber room

Agree with post below mine. G650 engineers did all the hard work. We handed the vetted designs to the new program who were told to use them “as is”, even when it didn’t make sense or was impossible. Then we got canned because we were over 40 and cost too much. Lot of talent, experience, and company memory was lost in the lay-off, and the voluntary departures since. Not my problem anymore.

Maybe we'll lay more G650 people off and promote more G500/600 people. It's always good to promote incompetence and fire your more successful and talented employees.

With orders down, delivered planes late, I think people are either keeping their heads down trying to stay safe if they have ties keeping them in the Savannah backwater, Or they are tuning up their resumes and are out interviewing. Know 2 top notch people well who made it through 5/1 who saw the writing on the wall and left for greener pastures. Know an AR whose gone soon too. Lockheed, Northrop, Moog are all hiring.

Well, if you add a few days to the schedule...

I honestly don’t know how they could keep going if they have another RIF. Every group I’ve been in communication with is short staffed and behind schedule.

Next round of lay-offs depend on second quarter results and remaining deliveries for rest of 2020.
We are hearing two more rounds coming up ...end of July and November.

‘Rumors’ tend to have truth
And there is nothing we can do but keep trying to make our departments successful.

Well, everyone started getting their unemployment in the last week, and that was the last "big question" that everyone had. Also, everyone who was planning on signing their severance agreement has already sent it in and either got paid, or will be getting paid this week.

So that just leaves us with rumors and innuendo.
