Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Global Business

Has anyone heard of HR/manager calls today or tomorrow? Or L2/L1s getting the announcement that they were “let go”?

I’ve heard 30% will get the cut, and of course the July 10th date. But that’s about it. Did AVPs and Managers even get input on these magical “lists” of people to stay or go? Or was it just HR/Legal/Consultants who made the list?

Anything else? Sorry guys this is my first surplus and I and s— to my stomach. Please don’t be mean.

I was accidentally copied on an email stating Directors are having Surplus Call training today. Rumor is they may start calls a day early.

First one; hard to believe. You must have just been hired because there was a management (those that don’t manage people) surplus in Jan and another just prior to that. They happen all the time for both union and non- union.

I heard that Managers will be reaching out to direct reports to tell them VS the mass call everyone talks about.

there will be 2 calls. One in the morning and another in the afternoon. If you get a meeting request in for a call in the morning and it says "do not forward" the meeting request - that means you're in the group that's getting laid off. The 2nd group in the afternoon is the "safe" group.

For this being your first one, note this one is a real biggie. I've been thru 4 or 5 of them at least, and this one appears to be really big time. Look for t in the mainstream news on these job cut numbers soon. This t deep cut may be a real wake up call for usa well-paying job losses. Likely first wave of many outside t. You may be the canary in the coal mine for usa.
