Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Skills assessment format?

I keep hearing different things about who will get an assessment, when they will find out, when they will actually take it, etc. I even saw a post showing to content or sections of the assessment. I was wondering if anyone knew the format it will be in (short answer, multiple choice, specific format depending on your role, etc)

Thanks for reading this. These are unfair and frustrating times, and I appreciate people expressing concerns and sharing information when available.

I believe OT for free is illegal. Several states you cannot work OT WITHOUT getting paid

One of the questions basically wants to know if you are a "Team Player" in doing OT for free. I guess we'll need to answer 'YES' if we want to keep our jobs. SHRUGS

I have been at Allstate a long time and have been asked to do assessments a few times. They are talking about "stopping work" and so they want to know what people's skills are for movement into other areas if your area is affected. There will be a database I'm sure that they can query. So, just like you wouldn't put down that you can do shorthand if you don't want to be an admin, don't put down that you can do something that you don't want to ever do.

According to the Society of Human Resource Management evaluation of skills by an online test is an accepted and legal way to evaluate skill of employees that could be laid off.

(I don't think that is legal. Maybe a lawyer needs to get involved. I'm no expert but it seems all so fishy... )

Keep in touch with the thread labeled “skills assessment content”. It will be updated as new information comes out. What has been posted is all that’s been communicated thus far. More to come this week.

Again, they need to find a way to fire you. Fail midyear ratings. Fail by test, Fail by tricky manipulation of HR handbook, Lie to you, Manager will micromanager you into fail.
Everyone !!!! this is like jeopardy, they already know your ability and they will make you fail to fire you. You need to remember not to believe there firing excuse and find a lawyer to offset there double talk which you are not skilled at. You can hire a lawyer on standby if you are within age discrimination reach.
