At Daimler, at least they are being transparent about it, at Ford we just stick our heads in the sand and have thoughts and prayers that things will get better.

Somebody ask the question would you leave if hit with a pay cut? If they implement the work from home and the job market improves then yes you will see people leave. In the past 12 years I have seen more and more parents tell their children to stay away from automotive and leave the state of Michigan. As for working from home to be honest people love it. You can slack whether you are in the office or at home. You don't need to be in the office for that. At one time the auto industry was lucrative to work in. But those days are gone or numbered now. If I were coming out of college now I would not consider the automotive as a career.
Question?? How many would really leave the company if they were knocked down one level, and had to take a 15% pay cut. Allot of people who where going to get SRDd took multi level demotions with sizable pay cuts and still are hanging around....

L1qv Chrysler is now part of Fiat (FCA) after that German “merger of equals” worked out so well. Daimler is the German company that builds Mercedes luxury vehicles.
FCA Hit the salary to the tune of 20% back in March. so is this additional?
The German auto industry was hit harder than North America by the virus. Also the Germans were losing ground even before the virus. The status symbol of BMW/Mercedes/Audi has been replaced by Tesla. Honestly since 2009, the German offerings have been meh. When BMW had the V10 M5 that was their pinacle, since then everything has not been as impressive.
Something has to change - and it will. Working from home is unveiling slackers and unneeded levels of unnecessary levels of management.
Hopefully folks in these catagories have skills in trades they can cash in on.
Things are for sure going to change.
The pay scale is not sustainable from top to bottom especially for the amount and value of work done on average by each employee. Unfortunately some do way more, as others do way less. In the end, it will pull everyone back, or the company will suffer.
