Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

SKILLS ASSESSMENT CONTENT

Providing some insight to what the “Assessment” will entail.

If chosen to take the assessment, it will Include:

  • Adaptive Personality Test “ADEPT-15” ~20 min to complete
  • non-exempt through band D: “motionChallenge” measures planning capability ~6 min to complete
  • Bands E-H: “Adaptive Reasoning” measures cognitive ability & high potential

Skills being assessed:
Change agility
Analytical mindset
Culture of customer experience
Holistic problem solving
Systems thinking (only band E and above)

You will have 5 days to complete the assessment from July 15th. 4-6 weeks later you will know if you are impacted by RIF.

Everything is set to judge whether you as an individual line up with the “Transformative Growth” model and (specific to claims) how well you’re able to drive results. No time limit, but the assessment does need to be completed in one sitting. It cannot be broken up into separate times over the 5 days you have to start it.

The company still has no idea exactly how many employees will be laid off and the assessment is really key to finalizing the decisions. Don’t not take it and think you’re doing yourself a favor and guaranteeing a severance package. More to come.

What is the name of the third party vendor that Allstate is using for the Skills Assessment?

10 year employee here.
I was told by a 30+ year manager that there wouldn't be severance packages like one would hope, simply let go. He was told by his supervisor "why would would we go to the expense of a package when we are cutting costs?"

Wouldn't it be something if home office asked those we work with how effective we do our job? Tons of employees running around each campus, regional and territory office that have been doing the minimum required to keep their job. Many bring little value to the customer, claimants, or agents but look good on paper. Many of the people that know and do their job well will be cut. Many that do nothing will be transferred within because they have connections.

What was the directive given by Allstate to the assessment company that governed what questions to ask ? Assessments can be created to weed out certain groups of people.

I’m grateful to the OP for posting these details. Sadly, however, this information should have been disseminated to us by our leadership and not some random website.

Wow this post was right on about the assessments being administered along with the timelines.

I mean truthfully, with so many employees, it seems like it's going to be hard to hash out and it seems like a scam.

Do you think every department will get one and ever segment? Do you think it's possible that they will say " oh hey.. with customer focus and desire for quality we can not afford to lose any unrep'd adjusters" and that entire segment would be safe? Or is that just a pipe dream?

What would Allstate hierarchy do if an entire department met at someones home, all logged in at the same time and all answered every question the same way?

"The company still has no idea exactly how many employees will be laid off and the assessment is really key to finalizing the decisions."

But I heard they already know exactly who is getting cut, and 3700 was the number. Don't know what to believe.

What is VTO?

It seems unclear where in the company this skills assessment is being utilized. Is this a Claims only thing? Someone else said ATSV was going to get a skills assessment. Is this for every department across the entire company, or targeted to a select few?

Anyway, you can’t refuse to take it as a means to create your own VTO, but it seems if you have the “cognitive ability” you can figure out how to answer some of these test questions so as to not “ace” it, thereby hopefully increasing your odds of getting selected for the RIF, if you are so inclined.

Is the assessment for claims offices only? The entire organization or claims and claims home office?

From your last comment it looks like you are implying that not taking the assessment would be grounds for immediate termination without severance..

Will processors be given an assessment or will all processors be laid off ?

by

Post ID: @rlz+15JYlO11

OP HERE:
You will know whether your area is impacted and whether you’ll be taking the assessment on 7/14. Please know that because your chosen to take the assessment does NOT mean you are automatically a “goner”. The assessment is at ALL levels of the company if that area is considered to be impacted. Again, you’ll know on 7/14.

Regarding VTO... this will not be an option offered at any level of the company. Severance is going to be offered traditionally as we’ve known it (2 weeks per year you’ve been with the company, maxed at 1 years salary). This information is still on our HR website and hasn’t changed since this started.

When will processors be told ?

by

Post ID: @bpe+15JYlO11

Processor staff is all being cut and work going to GENPACT. HR will use a 3rd party firm to do their hatchet job as lawsuit protection and to wash their hands of dirty work. Classy. Do Right Thing, We Care are all just empty words.

This is total BS... if you’ve worked there over 20 years... had great results on your business side of it and great results on your customer value surveys and the fact that you’ve been there 20 plus years shows your adaptable, you shouldn’t have to take some personality test to prove it

On July 15, is there going to be a claims wide email about who is getting chosen ? Are they going to explain anything ?

Is this assessment also for lower level employees?

by

Post ID: @ikr+15JYlO11

VTO will not be an option. Skill assessment will be given to every employee that has a "redundant job" in the new operating structure. If you do not get an assessment either there is no redundancy " staffed properly for the position" or your position is being eliminated all together. In that case you will be let go but could apply for an open position.

It sounds like it is a test that is geared to give younger people right out of school and used to taking these types of tests an advantage.

I am sure that is the plan....a way to get rid of the older higher paid employees but able to say...”hey it was fair everyone took the same assessment.”
I just do not know if I even want to stay with this company anymore even if they would have me...
What other tricks up the sleeve in the coming months and years???

Thank you for the information. More information than our “leadership” has given us......
For those who were hoping for a VTO, it is tempting to just not take it and take the severance package.

If you're "chosen" to take the "skills" assessment, that means you're a goner. They're just doing this to fight against the lawsuits - you didn't have high enough "change agility" (translation: You're too old). If you get this "assessment", wipe your azz with it and send it back.

Does the assessment include processors? I know you mentioned the bands but most of the communication has been directly about adjusters and not any other role...
