Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I'm so tired of this place

I don't think it's possible for this place to become less employee-friendly. The work environment is becoming more toxic each day and the morale is getting worse and worse. If the economy was in a better state, I'd already be on my way out.

It's sad to see what this place has turned into lately...

I came from the EMC side and it is very interesting the different view points between the L-EMC and L-Dell folks. I can tell you many (but not all) L-EMC folks see many (but not all) the L-Dell as being order takers and not actual SALES people. At least that is what i see in the field. If you have been at Dell a long time, you really need to change with the times and if more is being asked of you, you either need to accept it as a growth experience/opportunity - or you need to get out. I am sure there are toxic parts of the company but there always are in companies this large. I do have to say I really like the Dell Company Culture better than the L-EMC culture - but there are definitely different sales motions in he field where I see many (but not all) of the L-EMC folks being much better at actual SELLING and revenue growth.

I heard that too back when the merger was happening. But actually in 2015:

Here’s the aforementioned list of technology companies, with median ages in parentheses:

HP (40); IBM (37); Dell (36); Cisco, Oracle, EMC (35); Texas Instruments (34); Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE), Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Micron (33); Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Nvidia, Yahoo (32); Apple, Qualcomm (31); eBay, Twitter, Blizzard Entertainment (30); Google, LinkedIn, Salesforce (29); Facebook, Zynga (28); AOL (27).

The main reason behind the Toxicity is the EMC Management who think they are it, bullies - you dare not open your mouth - you are then called out as aggressive, disruptive I can go on an on, how humans are branded by Management - disgusting I say
Before the Dell EMC Merger - Dell was a really cool place to work, great Vibe, good people

The big concern is how Dell EMC throws folks out who are 55 and over -

Life is too short to slave away at a job you hate. It is damaging to your psyche. Agree with the other poster, take a pay cut if you have to, or maybe you don't even have to. For certain, there are other employers who will value you more than Dell and it's empire of debt and corporate greed.

I voluntarily left a few months ago, took a 15% pay cut and started a new job in a pandemic working 100% remotely. And despite all that it was a great move and I haven’t regretted it for a second. Quality of life is so much better. Culture is so much better. Peace of mind...I can’t say it enough. Do it!
