Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Covid Update

With the recent rise in cases of COVID-19, has anyone heard anything regarding resuming or re-visiting telework?

Additionally has anyone noticed high employee absenteeism? Feels like we are held hostage sometimes. Especially when management turns a blind eye to the low performers of the department with the expectation of others picking up the slack.

COVID is b—s—. I think it’s ridiculous Gulfstream can make us wear masks. The masks are ineffective and unhealthy. What’s next...mandatory vaccine to work. Corporations are just an extension of the government and are overstepping our freedom and constitutional rights.

Positive cases are being report all over the company. HR is conducting its own contact tracing BUT when they tell you that you’ve been in contact with someone that has tested positive they are NOT requiring you to get tested or quarantine. They are still allowing potentially asymptomatic people to walk around the building. Oh and they aren’t telling you this in an email to protect themselves from having evidence against them in a lawsuit. Maybe everyone should start recording their phone conversations with HR.

Mark Burns is the worst Leader i ever saw at GAC. He appointed incompetent SVPs and VPs (new) and they screwed it all. Heard that there are more than hundred +ve cases in GAC and number is going up. Be careful, use mask and be safe for your families. Not for GAC or Mark Burns, because they do not care about you. It's that simple.

GAC original vision is lost. I pray next GAC RIF starts from top-down.

I was hired by GAC upon my completion of military service in 2017. GAC had just decided to make the General Dynamics “Jet Aviation” in Saint Louis a Gulfstream only MRO. The hiring process was atrocious. HR was incompetent. Management was clueless. I had to beg for a start date. This should have been my first clue not to even go in the first day. I did. Within a few hours I knew I didn’t want to work there. Chaos. Nobody knew what was going on anywhere. GAC took a “mom-n-pop” operation like Jet Aviation, formerly Midcoast, and destroyed it. People came up to me on my only day there and asked what I was doing here? I said I’m a new hire just out of the Navy. They looked and said run like hell before it’s too late. I went home to my wife, and I called in the next day and quit. I would have went in to resign but it was almost an hour and a half drive, plus it was the least I could do, with the warm welcome I received! Trust me, Gulfstream is corporate America and does not care about you or your family.

There is one organization that got to keep the telework option (one week out, one week in office) because they were able to prove an unbelievable amount of increase in productivity when working remote.

No one wearing masks in my department unless away from our desks. But with all the people let go, we have a LOT of room to social distance. Mark Burns is a joke. Wasting more money on initiatives when what we need is bodies that were cut loose. Can’t wait to walk out the door for the last time. God willing, that will be sooner than later.

Nope. Business as usual. Expect the reliable workers to go above and beyond. COVID mask requirements is just Mark Burns building PR to excel. Now we all get to go through unconscious bias learning. What next microchips?! This company s—s.
