Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

YOUR EXPECTATIONS OF MIKE AND TEAM

What are your expectations of Mike Salvino?
What are you happy with? What are you not happy with?
He has been CEO for less than a year.
It seems like any time I have a positive outlook about him on this site, I get a downvote. I expect the same will happen with this post.
A lot has happened in the last year. He basically got handed a failing company... and then COVID happened.
Is he really treating DXC employees like c-ap versus other companies? Seems like many companies are having redundancies right now. The American economy isn’t doing well in general. I reckon that DXC has redundancies worldwide, but I don’t think this is just a DXC problem right now.
Has Mike Salvino actually made any promises he has not committed to yet?
Employees that have been with DXC for many years, I see your frustration. But, does that really mean you can’t just let go and give this guy a fricken chance? Do you really expect things to happen immediately?
Just curious. Maybe I’m being too optimistic or curious... hopefully people won’t be too nasty about this. There is already too much negativity right now.

Whats changed? More redundancies, no pay rises yet and we are in July, not even any effort put into pay rises.

Lots of talk, lots of meetings, lots of management, re-orgs, town halls flavour of the month.

Not much sales, progress, or future - all focus is on short term non productive changes.

Like giving your house another lick of paint when the wood is actually rotten, might look a bad job -ok but doesnt fix any of the underlying issues.

No change from Mikey Laurie - more wfr, no pay rises or training, more work being undertaken by the few people remaining. More and more broken promises, for any comers coming into DXC forget it and go somewhere else.

F-ck -ff Mike - if you really cared about what people thought, read the other posts that are here instead of this laughable attempt at engagement.

I am afraid he is sounding like a tyrannical dictator - this 'be respectful' line whilst being disrespectful in the same breath? He does not have 'gravitas' and is very poor orator, what is to be respected? It is not even possible to state "he's a tough b–tard, but look at the numbers!" I cannot be respectful of somebody who is demanding respect, until they do something to respect.

He didn’t recognize employees with raises and bonuses like he said. It’s been a year. He had the chance and failed.

EDS/hp/dxc .. don't expect the rays CSC bought the company it was a fire sale too many managers not enough business lack of proper focus. Get over it and get over yourself

Sally is over his head. He ran the it outsourcing group at Accenture picking up sc-aps from a well-run company. it's been 9 months and he is clueless where is this playbook he spoke about.

you want to give him a participation trophy like all the millennial kids want just a trophy for showing up well that's not good enough we give trophies for winners

Salvino stated unequivocally that he was going to turn the screw on level 5-8 managers who weren't client-facing and that client-facing "worker ants" would be safe. Within weeks, he cut hundreds of jobs which were very much at the coal face, delivering value. The man is a liar. That is the problem - he made a promise and then broke it immediately. Sorry Michael, we will never be able to believe anything you say.

The combative tone from the ceo is unprofessional, his tone, his mannerisms, the whole lot is not good. You hear him trying to say positive things but it just comes across as him spitting out words someone has told him to say and those words leave a bad taste in his mouth.

I guess with the state the company was left in meant the candidates that wanted the job was a rather short list.

It will be a miracle if dxc survives five years.

I'm surprised actually they haven't tried to change the name yet because its absolutely a brand in the dirt.

I do not set expectations because it will set you up for disappointment when people don't live up to them. Even if I had them I wouldn't matter.
What matters most is if management actually care enough to turn this company around. From what I have seen, they do not care. Heck, they do not even care about IT, only the money that goes around in IT. If management truly shared passion and knowledge for IT as many of the employees do, this company wouldn't be in the sorry state it is in now. This is not disputable.

Until I see a pay rise (I've never had one in 7 years at HP/HPE/DXC) then I won't believe anything has changed. I was annoyed that he conveniently decided to limit pay rises to levels 1-4 when all software developers I know are at level 5. I'm sure people on very low salaries do need a raise more than me, but inflation means that my bills and living costs still go up every year. At some point you just have to say enough is enough and find another job. Also I'm not on a massive salary by any means.

I also don't really like his tone on the calls, but maybe it's a cultural things and American's expect a boss to sound like that. When he dismisses people for being negative and says we should just leave if not happy I find that rude. Why can't he understand that people who have not seen a pay rise for years might have some negative feelings? If he wants to fix that it would be easy!

So no I'm not very impressed so far. If it turns around before I get made redundant then I might change my opinion.

It’s simple. Mike promised to put people first to better serve DXC’s clients.

He’s made at least two rounds of WFR since. There’s still no progress towards career growth for employees. He’s continuing the approach of removing staff who are doing great work and are billable from account and project teams.

You speak as a DXC insider, so you’ve probably heard of Project Collaboration. Mike described this as one of his Top Priorities for this year. The entire UK Project Collaboration team is being WFR’d on Monday 29th June. Another project team doing great work for a client will go on the same day, despite the project only being about 40% complete.

In short, we don’t like Mike because he makes promises to employees and clients, but then knowingly breaks those promises. In short he’s perceived by staff and clients as a liar.

Tell that to all people who are kicked out these days, to stop being negative. And around me all people who are on redeployment lists are not some lazy schmucks, they are are all smart and hardworking folks with lot of accumulated knowledge and experience. I had 5 people in my mini team, now it is only 2 left, with expectation that project stays on track and does not get impacted. Guess what - both remaining guys are now p-ss-d off and looking for the jobs outside, and as soon we find something good they will be gone. And I am sure same is happening in every team in every country.
