Backstage Manager

I'm currently the SWS backstage manager and was told yesterday that I will now be a CEM. Being the SWS backstage manager I had my own scorecard with Magic, sales, credit, profit, etc. That was separate from the store. I did my own hiring/interviews and had my own leads. Not to mention I have multiple departments within backstage itself. I can't help but feel like I've been really given a demotion here and fallen off a cliff because it's like going backwards. I can't see how this would be a 'lateral' move. Yet I wasn't given an option of severance. Just told I can accept or quit. Yet they're just going to move another mainbox manager to the backstage area. Is this not something severance eligible?

I feel you as I am in the same boat. I feel like I'm taking a step down. But on the other hand I am grateful I still have my job. My pay is the same. It could have been so much worse. I'm afraid I will be bored honestly. I love the support side of things and was a MTM. I'm just going to stay positive and give this new role 100%. And try to squash the feeling of going backwards ☹️

Severance packages are for those whose positions were eliminated.
Your position was not eliminated but changed .
Is it right , no !
Does feel defeating ? Probably because you worked to achieve a level in your career & thought there was more opportunity to come.
That was the past . Today Macy’s wants bodies to jobs . Dedication doesn’t matter

If you have all those skills & great results I would brush up your resume , stay where you are , collect your paycheck and look for another opportunity where the culture is real and you won’t be filled with bloated optimism.
You’re a more desirable candidate employed than not .
