Toxic seem accurate. Working at Belk is ridiculous. I’m working 1/3 of the store by myself. All cosmetics, fragrances, accessories and purses, fine jewelry and even shoes and BOPIS sometimes. I’ve had no training in most of these areas and am just winging it on a daily basis. Customers get angry when they have to wait in lines with 10+ people. When I call or page for a manager assistant I’m ignored most of the time or am told there is no one to help. Stress and anxiety is real working for this company.
That is the epitome of a toxic work environment
It's all due to respect. Most of these managers are young and think the world revolves around them. It's all about them and their group, their thoughts, their ideas their way period. They're just not mature enough to deal with real people. Being aggressive and a smart a– know it all is not the way to be. If you're over 35 you're pushed aside like you've got the plague.
The “clique” thing at belk is so prevalent, I’m beginning to wonder is managers are instructed to form “cliques” with other managers and some select associates, it is utterly bizarre, I am almost 56 years of age and have never seen anything like this in the workplace, it is so unprofessional.
For years I've pointed out such things to managers and possible solutions, but it continued getting worse. Managers choose ignorance as a solution as most of them are useless.
