Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Will this ever change?

Working at Honeywell means we can't make any major financial decisions. We moved relatively recently (ironically, for my job) and now my family is renting when we should buy a house, but I don't dare make that move for constant fear of losing my job (my wife works part-time, so her income is significantly lower than mine.)

It feels like we are hostages to this place that is holding us back from moving forward with a constant threat of layoffs. Will this ever change?

Honeywell is the same as other aerospace companies? FAKE News!! Engineers at other companies are Much Happier!

Reality is that things will change, and things will change for the worse. Just look at GE. Sad!

@ Don Quixote Well said. can’t blame this current issue on all on leadership, it’s the whole industry. Sure there’s issues at The Well, but not to this level normally. If planes don’t fly, the business suffers its basic math and not sustainable. Hell, that is any business right now.
To the post creator, where did you come from and was it aerospace? If you had stayed would you still have a job there? If you took this job before the pandemic, it’s not like Homeywell could have known this was coming. Aerospace is never guaranteed. If this is your first aerospace job, sorry not one told you that, but it’s true. Call it unfortunate luck. You can either ride out the wave or find another job if it’s that much of a problem. Hopefully you don’t have to repay relocation

My career has spanned 47 years (yes, nearly half a century) with all but 6 years in aerospace. Like it or not, the business is cyclical. Frequently, defense spending is up when commercial is down, and vice versa. In spite of what many posts here imply, HON leadership is overall neither better nor worse than that of other aerospace players of comparable size. I wouldn't work for Boeing unless they paid me double what HON does. LM, NG, Gulfstream - talk earnestly with their engineers and see just how much "greener" their pastures are; they aren't. I don't think our leadership is particularly enlightened, nor will it EVER be unless or until a product visionary (read "engineer") and not a money person takes over as a corporate leader, and I'm not holding my breath.

Honeywell is probably on the lender "naughty list", so you might want to wait!

Unless you are band 3 and under 30, it will never change.

Things will change once you make it happen and not rely on one company or another. Corporations don't care about you. Hop around to a more stable company. That's what people do. When it doesn't work out, get ready to hop around some more. This is how the modern world works. Sad.
