The number seems too high - is it really just people from corporate being affected?

People are aware there is more to Macy’s than just corporate. Jeff’s note was not clear though
Store management
Customer service team (phone/internet support)
Region/districts positions
There is more to Macy’s than the headquarters. Maybe that lack of thought is part of the problem.
I thought it was 3900 corporate. Just doesn’t include distinct regions folks. Am I wrong? Or store folks. Also not clear on Bloomingdale’s vs Macy’s breakdown.
Washington post just said 3900 is a quarter of the total corporate force
I heard 25k store/field jobs. That, plus 3900 in corporate = about 30% of total. Sad day. Good luck to all. Been there...twice.
Yeah, you're right. That number made me optimistic. 3% feels survivable. I don't know what to expect now, haven't heard anything about myself or my direct reports.
Corporate kept H1Bs. They removed knowledgeable people due to mismanagement.
I am a colleague from metro Detroit and got my call and yes severance!
3% figure is based on total employee... (so 3900 cut from roughly 120,000 total which includes store employee) not sure what is the % to total corporate employee.
I saw one news article saying 3% of the company, but I don't know what their source is.
What?????? the answer is no!!!! Read his letter!!!
it's not just corporate. Corporate will see 3900 layoffs. General layoffs the number has not been published
Stores too.
And what percentage is that of total employees?
