I encouraged my children to look at industries other than automotive.
Both my children are making more $ and benefits than I am.
They are both software engineers graduated from college 3 and 5 years ago.
I have 35 years software engineering at Ford.
They are working in Texas and Georgia. The cost of living is similar to MI.
I am happy my children are doing well.
At Ford after the first years everyone gets 2-3% yearly bump, so you soon find yourself
being paid below industry standard. The pension is what kept many here, but now Ford
boots people right before they hit pension milestones.
