Floating Holidays Paid Out?

If we were to quit or get laid off from Gulfstream in the coming weeks, would our floating holiday balance be paid out with our accrued unused vacation time? If you’re planning on leaving Gulfstream mid year is there a way to use your floating holiday to not lose it? I know unused PTO doesn’t get paid out...

Use your holidays now. They won’t get paid out in the upcoming lay off. You only get the amount of vacation your accrued until GAC fires you. The rest they keep.

Do you know if you quit the company if your accrued but unused vacation time is paid out? Or is that only during a RIF? Also, can you take PTO/Vacation after you’ve given a two week notice? If you have to take off during the two week notice period should you give notice earlier to make up for taking off? Thank you!

Some departments mandated when the floating holidays must be used. Usually Christmas week or the first week of July. Some employees have abused it (used all vacation days and floating holidays with the "intent" of working the week of Christmas). One year I used my floaters early, and booked vacation for Christmas week. My boss had a cow because "you're not supposed to do that"

Use them or lose them. The rule of thumb is the first 3 days taken each year should be your floaters. This way, you preserve your vacation, and if you leave, you don’t donate them to Corporate America.
