I have noticed that a lot of people when they walk in, slide the card key to enter
even when the door is wide open or they are following someone entering,
The questions I have are below.
Why is this necessary.
Is the card key that sophisticated or are we being told some sort of fabricated lie here.
With how many times you use it, will this be used against you if there is a layoff going to happen.
Is there a reason to do this if the door is open also.

They absolutely run reports on your entry card. If youre supposed to be in office and they dont see your swipe....well youre probably gonna get flagged
If you want the real reason, assuming you mean Hartford: For some departments, badge swipes are counted and recorded somewhere. If you aren't a full-time WFH employee, you have a certain number of swipes you must attain. I believe it is only really recorded, not enforced, until they need or want a reason to use it. Ask your manager if they know anything, but there is not even a consensus on how much this data really matters.
Does anyone know about this specific technology. I haven't seen anyone answer this specifically.
Would it actually show each time you swipe the card or what. I would like to know.
I know it is a word that is from the early 2000s and is also an old term.
It is a bad under the radar joke that didn't work out, after I sent it.
I read it again and I didn't occur to me that people would get the joke.
When I say old folks I'm talking about the ones that have been there for decades and haven't
kept up with the slang in decades also.
I don't know every slang term that is currently out there. I would say I haven't kept up with anything in a while.
I do not think it is still a thing. So obviously you got me there.
Anyway, that wet key card should be a concern. They do know that each time they swipe, it
is getting in contact with billions of bacteria and germs right. I have seen some people swipe the card key even when someone is opening the door for them. Is it that sophisticated? I have a hard time believing that, but who really does know.
chillaxing huh. what is this 2006? you seriously suggesting this is still a thing? Asking for an old person.
This is freaking hilarious since I saw someone sneeze directly in the hand, then take the key, wipe
the hand on it and then use it to swipe.
For the next person that had to enter, they swiped the key on this dirty wet key detector, obviously getting all that on a hand or both hands.
I was just chillaxing at the time leaning against a wall watching all this.
That word is relaxing for all you old folks out there.
