Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Coral Gables store

The store is running with less than 15 employees including ASM,LEADS and there is no STORE MANAGER, no merchandise arriving to the store at all ,beginning to look empty ,anything if they are planning to close this store anytime soon? This week two employees test positive for Covi 19 no protocol to follow at all for the safety of the rest of the employees. The only reason they keep it open is because of the low rent for that space in the heart of Coral Gables 10,000 per month on 100 year lease that expire in a couple of years .

Sounds like a great gig for the 15 or so associates. Punch in and get paid to stand around. What are you complaining about?

That's Eddie's standard playbook. Use the hundred years leverage and let the property go into hell over a handbasket until the owner or city beg Eddie to take the property away at a hefty premium. That strategy hasn't worked out very well considering the astronomical sums he's lost. He must have thought at some point that operational losses are fine as long as we can use it to offset capital gains on real estate sales, but he vastly underestimated his ability to generate operational losses. The really funny thing is big deal everyone made about transferring the losses over from Sears Holdings, as if TransformCo couldn't generate massive operational losses on its own. Eddie's handpicked lapdogs, the loyalists who stick around and believe his nonsense are like him, unparalleled experts at shoveling money into the bonfire. Now the CARES act due to COVID supercharged the carryback and carry forward powers of NOLs, but does Eddie actually have any capital gains to offset? It's pretty only these shakedowns where he holds these leases hostage.
