Like all of you probably, I filed an individual UI claim as instructed immediately after the 5/15 official layoff (AFTER receiving the company-claimed 2 week furlough benefits) but since then I have not heard anything from GA DoL. Is anyone else experiencing this? I cannot reach DoL at any of their contact numbers and they have no responded to my many emails.

It’s been two months no response from GA DOL and GAC HR generic response. We don’t have any further information/communication Got the whole two weeks from GAC May 1-15. After 15th it’s been radio silent from both GAC and GA DOL. I’ve done the whole calling, emailing etc. offices not open to public so no one physically at an office I can speak with Beyond frustrating!!!!!
I had given up. I was talking to another laid-off coworker a few days ago, who said that after she asked HR directly, was told that we wouldn't be getting any UI benefits until the severance was gone. I didn't know whether that meant if you got $10,000 in severance you wouldn't get any money until your unemployment had reached that amount (e.g., if you were supposed to get $200/week, that would be 50 weeks); or if that meant the number of weeks of your severance before you started collecting unemployment.
I dug up the email they sent us in late May and it kind of looked like it was saying something like that - GAC had told the DOL what we were getting in severance, and we needed to tell them what we were getting, etc.
So I just assumed I wasn't going to get anything, because of what I wrote in that first paragraph. But I went into the DOL website yesterday to register for the week, and it showed that I was getting some payments! Oddly, the first week of UI was still "pending" or whatever, but the next few after that were OK. I have no idea. But my bank account shows a bunch of UI payments as "pending."
TL;DR - I got paid most of the back UI payments.
Finally received payments today!!!
Thinking it's a DOL issue. I have a few non-GAC friends who have been employed for several months and they both said they have had the same issues (no return calls, etc.) and of course, no $$$!
Unemployment is difficult and inefficient by design. The system works!
Although there are Federal benefits due to C19 they are unfortunately administered by the States.
"You should have weeks and months of savings in case of economic hardship"
~ financial experts and politicians probably
Well, at least some received up to $1,200 (plus dependants or whatever).
"Let's bailout corporations"
~same financial experts and politicians probably
Well, at least some received billions.
This should expose the need for modern and robust social programs.
In the same boat. Four weeks and no pay. My UI status states Eligibility is pending a determination. Made the week four weekly benefit payment request but it is not showing up when using the check status of payments link.
I also got an email last week (probably Thursday) that said my claim has been processed. It could very well be that the large volume of claims from former GAC employees has gummed up the works a bit. Hopefully we'll get the last 4 weeks paid this week.
Yes I am having the same problem, I try getting through to DOL everyday for weeks, and have left messages with no reply for weeks. The online service says wait 48 hours for your application-its said that for weeks. I just called the Governors office who took my info and said they would "escalate my claim"- we'll see if that helps. How do they expect us to survive this many weeks without any money? I suggest more of you out there start complaining to the Governors office, and your Representatives- they need to find a way to expedite claims!
I got a phone call Friday asking why did I do my own claim when my employer had one. They asked me if I was told to do one myself. I told the caller that Gulfstream had emailed everyone to do a new claim. She told me she would process my claim and someone would be contacting me.
I finally got an email Thursday June 18 that my claim has been processed.
