Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Richard, stop with the irrelevant headlines, PLEASE!

Richard - can you please stop posting headlines about disingenuous statements about every single social media crisis of the day and MAKE A PROFIT!!!!!

All this social unrest is important - but it’s second for Mattel on the list of PRIORITIES - #1 is to stop losing money every year and to make a profit. Without it you can’t keep everyone employed. From my count you’ve done NOTHING to reverse the decline except cut payroll. This is not a strategy for success.

Either make the company a profit or leave - you have no other choice because you’ve no more tricks in your bag and your time is up.

@mms+15AJt6tb Tim got us in this mess?? Are you kidding!? Under Tim’s leadership Mattel had some of its best years! There were wins and losses but let’s not forget he worked under Stockton and Sinclair. Then RD was brought on to ... ?? Tim was and is far too good a person for the likes of the toxic cesspool that Mattel has become. He believed first and foremost in his people and remained excited at the idea of creating great toys! Imagine that!! I’m sure he would be the first to say he wishes he would have done some things differently but that’s the nature of the business.

Please get Dicky off of Linkedin. Seems like he's on it all day long.

Agree with both the posters regarding Kilpin. He is probably the most likeable and humble leader any of us ever have or will work for in our careers. Definitely loves toys/kids/play and not distracted by entertainment (although with his Disney background clearly understands the value of strong IP). But....while he had some successes, he failed more often and didn't succeed in "righting the ship." The company didn't thrive under him and the board knew that he wasn't the right choice. Sadly, neither was tricky Dicky. It's gotten so bad that I don't see how a combination of Superman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman and any superhero ever concieved can get Mattel out of this mess. Find a new job. Stat!

RD knows Mattel is going BK, he's just setting himself up for his next victim, eh, company.

Agreed, Tim is an all-around great guy: experienced, poised, humble, down to earth, affable, a natural leader, he makes everyone want to work hard. I love the guy. Polar opposite of RD. But don't forget, Tim had his shot. He drove the bus for many years, it was Tim who got us into this mess. Things have worsened since he left, for sure.

Just like old girlfriends always seem better after a long while, 'cuz you forget their c-ap and only remember the good stuff. Tim's not the answer for Mattel.

Hopefuly Tim does well at Playmonster, but keep looking elsewhere for someone else to save Mattel.

Don’t worry, the SEC investigation won’t amount to much, mattel already corrected the issues and restated their financials. There may be a small fine but even that is doubtful. The clueless leaders of Mattel will cause the company to go bankrupt. Bad decisions, lack of innovation, firing everybody with toy experience, hiring entertainment goons, fake cost savings and no hope in sight for the freefall of AG, FP, Thomas and Mega.

Saw the news today that Tim Kilpin was named President at Playmonster. 5 years ago he left Mattel and RD was named COO. In those 5 years, our stock has dropped from mid-30's to 10. Tim knew toys and product. He wasn't trying to do everything for PR - he actually liked toys/kids. He made many swings new launches - some good/some bad - buts that the nature of the industry. He was part of Monster High (but always let the team that actually created it get the credit). I remember when YK called RD "the best toy executive in the industry" during an all hands during the first few months. Wonder if he still thinks this - I would guess so based on last years bonus. Kilpin or d—son - my vote would be Kilpin in a landslide.
