Thread regarding IBM layoffs

How badly did this hit the North Carolina office?

If anyone is up for it, I am a reporter with the Raleigh News & Observer, and I'd like to speak with any North Carolina employees affected by the recent round of layoffs. I can be reached at zeanes@newsobserver.com.

The n&o has never done investigative reporting on IBM. All PC manufacturing moved from RTP and hardly a word. PC and and Server divisions sold to Chinese company. Yawn. Empty buildings in RTP torn down. Nothing to report. Kiss some IBM executive but@ n&o!!

I have heard from a colleague who works in HR in Raleigh at IBM the total number laid off could be as high as 40K employees globally (hence the level of secrecy around the total numbers of layoffs) hitting a lot of those here in the USA hard...in the middle of a global pandemic! IBM is dying in the tech world so the only way they can show revenue growth is by letting go of people, from entry level university hires, middle managers and long term employees. They also recently cut all contractors in the USA as well.

Calm down @pcq. Reporters trying to report because they are not getting clarity elsewhere. I do not mind them trying to get information

WTF is wrong with you reporters? Do you not know how to dig for legitimate sources and report on accurate info. Instead you lazy pieces of garbage ask for details on an anonymous board? No wonder there’s so much fake news out there.

Oh, and the number is 473
