Thread regarding IBM layoffs

This RA has been planned before COVID-19

Well they were questioning the bad PR that would come from doing this during Covid...

Especially since its not Covid related and is instead because of the new partnership...

This was planned before Covid. Looks like in the end it didn't matter... Shareholders over workers.

I have heard that because of Covid they may give more than the usual (90 days notice + 1 Severance if you stay all 90 days).

@wiw+1546qWjs nope, March was going to be 30 notice / 90 severance also. Not sure about medical benefit, that may be new.

The March was probably a 90-30 and now its 30-90. So nothing really changed dollar wise.

COVID provides cover to tank the 2nd quarter with a good story to the street.

Best wishes to all. From RA class of mid-2019.

Can confirm...this was actually going to happen in March and delayed a couple months due to COVID. At least in some groups, RA lists determined before COVID could not be revisited.

PR? Wall Street will reward IBM for this, just as in the past.

Why worry about bad PR? There isn't a peep about this in the media, as usual - just more about COVID-19 and the Mad King in DC throwing temper tantrums.

Bad PR? They don't care.

30 days , you are gone , 3 months lump sum salary. Health insurance extended at IBM rates for 12 months then 12 months of COBRA.
