Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Give your bench a chance

It there is any meritocracy left in this company, we, your bench deserve a chance to show what we can do. I am tired to watch these so called "Champions" pontificate about what they did 20+ years ago and left me with a couple of powerpoint slides to "reflect" on what is coming (WHEN I AM THE ONE DOING THE WORK!!!). Champions of what exactly??? These people are so indoctrinated that they don't know anything outside SLB, so very poor perspective is received from them, just the usual blah blah blah and "funny" videos and cartoons in their slides to show how diverse they are. Really????

I, like many other young employees have worked hard and prepared to take the reins, but nepotism keeps showing up and is just disheartening to see those a– lic..kers getting promoted and literally sent to a FULLY PAID SABATICAL to the UK, etc...so their bragging wives can brag about what they have while b–ching all the time about not being able to continue living the type of life they had before they were transferred.

Show us that you are paying attention to this. These are not the values that you promote, and YES, this is not the company that I joined. I know that some will tell me to leave then, but honoring my service and the time I've put here, this had to be said.

Slb has Champions of products that don't exist. Delfi has the entire Champions League. Hope that b#l$hit finished this time.

@1wok Man, you are so missing the boat. That is why SLB is investing heavily in AI and machine learning. What you knew is no longer aligned with what the company and clients have envisioned for its future.

Code is replacing wrenches, you know that. I can and have learned a lot in the field, don’t be mistaken. But, can you code? And I don’t mean Pascal.

More meritocracy and less circles of special friends protecting themselves and their bragging wives. Is not a big ask.

Sounds like a fast track millennial baby with zero experience outside of an engineering degree with arrogant high expectations got its feelings hurt. If you think that 12-18 months in a classroom and 1-2 years in the field make you more deserving than someone with 20 years experience you are sadly mistaken. That career progression in general is what is k–ling SLB. Sure you are all documented and can write an excel spreadsheet. Now go out there and figure out the issue with that pump not maintaining a suction. Your PLC crashed, your spare is not programmed and you have no bandwidth to download the files, how are you fixing it? Stuck right? Experience matters, it develops leaders with technical know how you don’t learn by chance.

It’s in the way to break that spouse cycle or else slb is doomed. Haven’t seen this much spouse and buddy system anywhere I. My 25+ years career.

Spot on OP.

These bl...ood s—...ers take your contributions and literally copy and paste them in their performance evaluations to get credit for other people's work. If you are young you look up to them to be formed, you often find yourself cheated as they block anybody who can come and compete with them down the road. They demand information and feed the bare minimum to get by. THE CHAMPIONS MODEL WAS NEVER AND WILL NEVER BE A PARTNERSHIP OF EQUALS.

The company has normalized this for so long that this is the new SLB's way of doing business. I really hope the new executives address this.

Would they survive out for long? Don't think so...
