Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

What a day.........

Golf and Nascar, and oil just hit 30.04 WTI. All those cars going in a circle burns about 6,000 gallons of fuel a race. Burn baby burn. It looks bleak, and there will be ups and downs to come for years, but none of us can see the future. Once people start burning the fuels and consumption goes up things can change. Throw in a little middle east uprising and we are up and running again. This virus has put a mental drain on our whole country, and it can change on a dime. It is bad, but it wenwill be back and once the airlines take off that helps that much more. Got in the industry in 1982 and have been laid off multiple times and watched many companies be sold, but have always seen a rebound. You might want to jump out, but we will be back. This is more psychological than anything else, and Russia and Saudi also learned a lesson. Both thought they were going to be bad asses and put the USA out of business, but it hurt them just as much.

It was the first time back. Future will include fans and carts. I'm tired of the short sided comments and decisions of people. Things will go back to normal.

The race was zero fans allowed and the golfers carried their own bags. I wouldn’t call that a comeback at all

@OP+150vbqas - There’s nothing wrong with being optimistic but with optimism there’s a level of rational and or practical reasoning that’s required in order to maintain it. Golf and NASCAR don’t equate or constitute a return back to normalcy based on the fact the live fans are edifice of which sustain the prominence of either sport or any sport for that matter. Then there’s the hilarious notion that $30+ oil is somehow good news when just about any increase in price is better than where we were a month ago. Oil isn’t coming back because of lack of demand and Oxy will never survive this economic transition due the enormous debt they hold and low oil prices for the foreseeable future. Anyone that understands even basic economics know the economy doesn’t turn on like a light switch, Trump is embarrassing himself by making such ridiculous claims.

This is a terrible virus and we all need to take it very serious, but don't let it take away your freedom and life. We need to learn how to deal with the new environment we are dealt. Everyone wear a face covering for a while and practice social distancing. Pick and choose how you deal with crowds, work, etc. Nearly 3500 people are k–led a year in Texas on the highways, and many of those are DUI accidents, so we impose a lot of death on ourselves. Learn to WFH, and take care of the young and old, but don't let it cripple your dreams and life. I for one am sick of this c-ap and we need to move on.

Texas Covid Cases:
47,784 Cases
27,570 Recovered
18,967 Active
1,336 Deaths

  1. 8% Death Ratio
