Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Calgary and Denver

Why does SLB still have offices in Calgary and Denver? There is no work anywhere near either office at least combine them and get rid of one lease. Oh wait we will just close operations in district that have a chance to produce revenue. That make a bunch more sense. We need these offices in the trendy downtown areas to prove to our clients we can still waste money with the best of them. Cut the blue collars save the white collars that way there will be no one left to do any work.

All their work can be done remotely in US or India, customers are very familiar with this model, cost of transferring FT is fraction of paying lease or electricity

The offices are there because operators have offices there. The customers are mostly downtown especially in Calgary, so it makes sense to put offices there. That is the business reality
