Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

iT Security Groups

We are full "fragile" aka agile model and what a forest fire this is. A model of micro management, everything critical pushed down from top model with a complete disregard of good process practices. Roles designed to do nothing but forward mail and continually follow up, poke, prod and devalue the employees work, with no interest in allowing or trusting employees whom they hired to perform the job. We are now banding together to leave.

What @5ivs+14nIaf1I said, seconded, amplified, big-time.

The problem isn't Agile, the problem is the a**hats overpromising and making you and your team clean up the mess they made.

Push back if you can, and explain in full (and do so publicly in front of multiple witnesses) why. Make them choose between existing/scheduled ongoing bugfixes and features, and more importantly, make them prioritize right there on the spot against what you already have going. Make sure the meeting is recorded or in writing (via email), and be sure to save a copy of that email or file off locally to back you up.

My team went FULL agile and I was even an Intel trained agile coach AND the trained scrum master for our team, so I should know better. During one sprint planning meeting my manager (the PO) pulls me aside to show me a schedule and said to make sure these items all get on this week's sprint because "we've already commit to them and there's other things we may need to pull in" then promptly left for a more important meeting leaving me with the rest of the team to just assign them items. This is basically how our sprint planning went because we're getting so much pressure from above.

Don‘t blame agile. The problem is the management. You can‘t introduce agile methods when you have non-leaders in management positions.

Is it Internet of Things or IT Security - BC’s org?

Very unfortunate at this time, is the news already conveyed?

Management is the same throughout Intel. They prefer to fight fires rather than prepare strategical and tactical plans to eliminate these fires. They always push the workload to the lower tier scapegoats, and when it comes to layoffs, they will always spare themselves but fire you.
