Are you affected with this Coronavirus or Furloughs?
If yes, what do we do?

Who wants any part in this company now after what they’ve done and how they’ve lied? How can I feel pride in my work and in the product anymore?
The layoffs in my department clearly demonstrate favoritism or if my group head is honest when he says he had no idea this was coming and had nothing to do with lay-off selection, then the layoffs demonstrate gross incompetence in whoever secretly made the selection. The only people in my dept who were experienced and had expertise in supporting what today have been declared our company’s top priorities have been let go today huge scramble to figure out what to do, moving inexperienced people into the top priorities. Quality of the work will nosedive. I have lost any shred of respect I had for the new engineering management. Disgusted with this new better than thou Management regime. And Shame on them to use the covid as the excuse for the reckless carnage they are causing. Bunch of liars .
Carnage in engineering on Friday. Way deeper cuts than anyone was expecting. Many were people that had been thinking about retiring anyway so it’s nice for them to get a sweet severance package, many were low performers, but many high performers were also let go while freeloading duds are still there.i don’t understand the criteria they’ve used this time to select the layoffs. It seems partly based on people or departments that are thought to be redundant now with automated computer systems. In my opinion, the only part the virus has played in all of this, is to be the excuse to make production like completion engineering. I suppose it is the DS plan and CM is the obedient puppet.
To the manager that had to notify his best friend: You’re part of the problem. You shouldn’t be managing your best friend! The good ole boy network is alive and well at Gulfstream. After every RIF here, I’m “amazed” at that guys that survive. Top performers that aren’t drinking buddies or sycophants are usually the first to go.
Here we go with the management bashing! Sorry, but friends are being let go. I just had to tell my best friend I had to let him go. It's not fun for us either....
That’s what I’m seeing too. Friends are sticking around.
Management is saving their friends not the actual hard workers from whom I've seen laid off. Not a surprise. I keep telling myself good luck with the sh** show coming.
Management isn’t going to get any better. Their management brainwashing program only reinforces their attitude of superiority over us. At least a union will draw the line in the sand and if they cross it they will pay us monetarily. Not to mention our voices will matter in our pay and benefits or we walk. I assure you with Gulfstream’s fat profit margin, the greed will force their hand in our favor. We are leaving a lot on the table that is going to useless management overhead and GD executives. A union will make management get out of our hair because the contract will take away their power to steamroll over us every time they have one of their “good ideas.” I’ve worked in union shops and management was nowhere to be found most of the time because they knew they had no power outside of the contract and had to leave us alone so we could do the real work.
It time again to cut harding working people. Management doesn't care about you it takes 5 minutes for them to let you go but you may have worked 1 or 20 years your gone. Sad
If it happens it happens. Maybe for the best to leave this toxic company and shi**y management.
Brace yourselves! Gulfstream earnings and outlook numbers are terrible even after being white washed by GD. Get your affairs in order my friends. Life changes are coming.
Last fall engineering management was butchered. It was rather harsh but Engineering had become so top bloated. Layoffs are never easy nor pleasant. Now I think will be the turn for engineers who are on the higher pay end and lower productivity end. Engineers that have been retired on the job for years will now be officially retired.
No layoffs or furloughs in engineering yet but overtime cuts. I feel for those who use to count OT as solid income. Many high paid folks got laid off and lived a lavished lifestyle. One person in particular I hope it humbled her snobby self. My best guess would be more furloughs than layoffs due to the current shortage of engineering peeps. But who knows.
HR has some lists of names at this point, but not all “segments” have been reviewed. Also no communication about Furlough vs RIF for impacted names, or parameters for the Furlough.
GD’s 1Q20 earnings call is on Wednesday. My guess is Burns will not make any official statements until after.
Anyone hear any new news today?
More like 3400....about 20%. Brutal.
Major RIF expected Monday. 2000 people across GD. Probably some furloughs also due to severe lack of parts from Mexicali not working
Nope. Not until Thanksgiving.
Layoffs are coming due to coronavirus next week, most likely Monday.
No layoffs yet
Work processes have gone exceptionally smooth and seamless while no managers are in the building. Issues that arise are properly handled where the rubber meets the road. I wish GD would make observation of this, but I doubt they will.
COVID-19 is rampant in building Z
You better take off 4 weeks.
I vac for 2 weeks to give situation a chance to mature.
Layoffs to start in Long Beach and Savannah in two weeks. Upper management is keeping it “hush hush”.
