Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Cash Flow Problems - Furloughs, Pay Cuts, Temporary Layoffs

Salaried staff will experience a temporary pay cut.

Some will be furloughed.

PC is one such person with a cut.

Information is going out in prepared packets for dissemination ASAP.

This is typical of Follett when they make a major hit, plan and then execute quickly.

Then follow up with 'we will endure' to make up for it.

Also benefits will extend out fully for the next 90 days apropos of furloughed?

I don't understand all the acronyms. What's SM? MLS? (Probably not Master of Library Science). PC? AOH?

Face to face layoffs now? That is one way to make a lay-off worse; add a dose of lethal virus exposure. follett is an awful company. That was true they day you took the job and it remainS true until they liquidate. You have been sold down the river. But this is NOT the time for Non-medical face to face meetings.

In response to SMs not delivering the message face-to-face...

SMs were pulled onto a very last minute conference call. After the call, they were told to pick up the phone and pass the message on to their people. They were told not to wait, deliver the message ASAP.

It was a shock to many and it did not feel great to deliver.

I received a notice from Wage Works regarding benefits. Haven't read much about it yet. Still a bit angry how I was laid off. SM didn't have the balls to tell us to our face. We worked our shift last week, he said see ya tomorrow and then 20 min later got the call. Jerk.

Health Benefits are terminated. Tried to use them today. Assuming all others are no longer working as well. Haven’t gotten any information in the mail from Follett as of yet.

Good question. 2 months, 6 months?
Follett used to brag about how liquid they were, how much cash on hand.
But if the first you pay is the family dividends and push your other bills back to net never (thanks DF!) then you're looking at something different.
What ever happened within the family in the 2014 time frame when MLS was hired speaks to what the future will be. Remember as MLS strutted around the stage with AOH, she told us all, her only focus was to make the privately held family stock worth more. Not provide the best service to our clients, not to offer new and innovative products to our clients but to make the Follett Family wealthier. As is said, sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.

So, how does this play out for SMs in smaller stores? Can we expect to be laid off or hours cut? We still have adoptions etc albeit on a lot less scale than the bigger stores. Guess we'll soon find out.
Stay safe everyone & good luck.
