What is Non-essential work?

So one the latest company Covid-19 updates we received at the end of last week states ALL non-essential work has been pulled. I would like to know what is considered non-essential work by this management? Still running loads and work performed like normal...to the point that all work on your daily load are all day appointments and they must be worked EVEN if it takes overtime and still getting pushed on work that MOST would consider non-essential.
Typical with this upper level management...talk out both sides and when it comes time to explain what non-essential work is no one seems to know! That is because this management does not recognize anything as non-essential...just sounds good in the email to help keep the spirits up of all the dedicated field force that they all of the sudden TRULY CARE ABOUT.
I choose to look at the actions management has taken over the last few years versus this half-hearted appreciation they want to lump on us during this time of crisis and need.
I implore someone to try and find out what is considered non-essential work!

It is essential for the company to exploit this Virus for everything they can get, no Hazard pay to Tech but everyone else is doing it, even the Government is looking at giving Essential Employees a 25,000 dollar Hero bonus, not us, Jeff said our job is the equivalent of going to the Grocery Store as far as Hazard, Government includes Grocery Store Workers in the Essential jobs list as well. So Jeff where is ours not to mention the Grocery Stores are paying their employees Hazard pay as well.

That 25,000 dollar pay out is suppose to go to the Employers to disperse to us if it passes, how much if any will we get if Jeff and the Company have control of it, I get the feeling they will just sit in their offices and Yell BINGO.

Nope, totally did not miss the point. The point is...Broadband IS NOT regulated. Jeff's "essential need" of the industry would then be validated if it were!

Brilliance I tell ya...the VITAL needs of Broadband!! If it was soooooo vital up till now, why can we not seem to make any money off it with dwindling access numbers quarter after quarter?? Why have they not put any money into upgrading the consumer side....if it is so vital?? Why at every turn of the mouth, you hear management talk about selling it off?? Why can't we get any investors?? To most businesses and investors, if you can get into a business that is vital....that's exactly where you want to be, that's where the customers and money should be. But yet we sit here as a company and flounder under this management in the strongest economy America has ever seen. Please get educated on the BIG picture, not just your small subset of why Broadband is soooooo vital. With some sense of normalcy, the numbers will go back to normal...declining access lines and revenue. The layoffs will be fired back up and there will still be no money for bonuses, wages or healthcare from this management. My thoughts and prayers for those unemployed right now and great for those that can continue to work from home but Broadband is not essential or vital anywhere on the consumer side...it is a want, not a need YET!!!

With internet as vital and important to every household and business it should be regulated just like pots. It would be a job saver for us and force CTL to maintain its plant to keep up with current broadband needs to stay competitive.

My internet has been going down daily while working from home, and if it goes down permanently my family doesn’t eat. Pretty essential to me.

C orders to increase speed are non essential in my books. In fact dsl is not regulated so any dsl work is non essential. But I’m not going down that road because we need the work as well.

All deregulated work should be non essential at this time. We have a nid for a reason and this is our demarcation point. On a pots repair or VV We can run temp iw from the nid with a biscuit jack or RJ11 on the other end through a window or door and have the customer move their equipment/modem to the nearest window to temporarily restore service. This can be done for tech installs as well. Configure the modem in your truck and leave everything at their front door.
