"Due to the impact of the pandemic on its business, Barnes & Noble Education (NYSE:BNED) says it told employees today that it will be instituting a furlough program impacting the majority of the BNC workforce and a select number of employees from the company's other segments.
In addition, CEO Michael Huseby voluntarily agreed to a temporary reduction of his base salary of 25% to take effective on April 13."

It bought them time to examine the payroll at each store. As an almost 18 year employee, I was too expensive for my store volume. They offered me a part time supervisor position and with all my experience, I was offered the higher end of the pay scale... about $5 an hour less than what I had been making as an assistant manager. Odd, on the conference call, they made it seem like I wasn't the only one going, that all full time positions were being eliminated. As it turns out, a number of other full time assistants and department heads are still there. They tell you what you want to hear.
