New Energy may be one of the safer areas of the company to be in. Cuts will be made in a variety of product lines and business areas. There's been rumblings of MI being sold off for over a year.... at the rate they're cutting there won't be any business left to sell. New Energy = Renewable Energy, that's the future. So that's going to be preserved because SLB can't survive as an O&G company. Perhaps all operations supporting natural gas will be jettisoned since the price of gas has been in the tank for years.

There will be cuts across the board in all segments. Most of the cuts will be in the form of permanently fired (not furloughed) employees. Some employees will be invited to stay on as contractors.
