Work harder, produce more and continue to drive down oil prices. I see we have some genius thinkers here

This is the oilfield, you should be working 100 hour weeks like the rest of us. Be thankful you have a job and insurance.

"If your working a 20 hr week at reduced pay and then intimidated to work more than your pay. Your being used. Don’t do it."

Come on, man! That's good in theory, but this is Noble we're talking about. When did they ever not pressure staff to work more than they were being paid for? I've never worked a normal 40 hour week, ever. They aways heap on more work with tight deadlines. 60-65 hours per week is more the typical for the group I'm in. Expecting more from part timers? It's par for Noble.

Face it, this company's management don't care about ethics and they certainly don't have a conscience.

Your being used. Don’t do it.

They can’t afford to layoff or terminate anyone else as they are literally at the bare bones skeleton staff needed to keep things running.

Any other teams being strongly advised to continue working 40 hours a week by managers and above even though they were switched to “part time” at 20??

"Stretching out the pain with the same end result isn’t a sign of great management.

Because most furloughs are publicized, potential candidates will certainly think twice about joining the organization. Referrals will likely go to hell because your employees will be reluctant to refer anyone into the current state of turmoil. All of this will likely damage your external employment brand image as a “well-managed” organization and the cost of repairing it will be huge." ere.net

It is never easy to go through these things. Yes companies make decisions that are tough and some we like better than others. Give a little grace here. Managers may not have agreed with the decision but they had t follow decisions. Some made suggestions before a decision was made and you can take that for what you will. A lot of people are furloughed or pat-time and want to know how people out there are going to help make a difference. How do we make this better for everyone. It's easy to be a critic, how about we make a difference!

Not true at all. Most companies in all different types of industry give severance packages.

You know....only the Oil Companies give severance packages. And lucrative ones that that. There is absolutely no law/rule whatever you want to call it that requires a company to give severance packages. Stop expecting it. You get paid very well for your job. You do your job. That pretty much defines employment. You work You get paid. Neither party is owed more or less.

I know some directors who are also furloughed.
But I'd like to see senior executives take paycuts before moving to furlough

Hey “basking” — Nobless makes good points. What do you have to offer those of us who are grieving?

What a surprise
Lots of good employees furloughed who aren’t part of the good old boys club, mediocre employees in the club remain

No word on any supervisors or managers furloughed or moved to part time, even if all their workers were furloughed the management magically kept their full time job 🙄

Make no mistake, this is a move to take advantage of employees in a difficult situation (granted the company is in one too). A furlough allows the company to hold on to employees and avoid having to separate them and pay severance, etc. So now the table is flipped and you are totally at their mercy. If you can’t afford the pay cut for 3-6+ months and have to leave, your option is to resign with no severance benefits. Has the exec team announced that they are voluntarily cutting their salaries? One possibility to consider: budgets for 2020 are already cut by 30% w/more likely coming and six months is Oct. Spending doesn’t ramp at the end of the year, so 1Q or 2Q 2021 is most likely when the oil market storm will let up and budgets can get reset. That means you’re really talking second half of 2021 when activity levels will readjust. Take time to reassess your priorities and find something that brings more stability to your life–I did that last year and haven’t looked back!

So are we to assume the execs are considered essential and will receive half pay also?
