I understand the mom-and-pop type of businesses having to close and lay off employees, but big corporations such as Gap??? Shouldn't companies as big as this one have contingency plans for situations like this that won't leave their employees hungry and (in some cases) with no money for rent???

The contingency $$$ is spent being paid to the Fisher sons they're too busy with their oakland athletic baseball and soccer teams to care about the business. They'd rather keep an extra thousand to add to their billions than help us until unemployment kicks in. The only reason they haven't sold all their shares is because it pays a huge fat dividend to them
This is nothing new they do layoffs every year I've worked for the company for 10 years and every year when they slow down they offer a volunteer layoff if not enough people want it then they do a layoff but when work picks back up they are called back to work
Yeah, they were extremely slow to close, deliver updates, and share with us about the furlough.
I havent heard anything about this and i presently still work for them.
This corporation has absolutely no regard for employees it all about the $$$$ for executives and the board. I know because I worked there!!!
