Contractor: Worked for 14 years at Ford, day in and day out. Appreciation from all over world Ford leaders. Lost my job 2 weeks ago... don’t really know the reason. :(

@1amz; so you think shutting down the country was the wrong thing to do since the world is facing a deadly virus. Strong companies will survive, weak companies will not, some will with government assistance. Call it what ever you want, but FMC was not a strong company before the virus. The powers to be starting dismantling the leadership as soon as Allan left. Now your left with the sh–. Hold on, 2020 is going to be like riding a roller coaster Cider Point without any arm restraints.

Do the layoffs impact FOMOCO or Credit or both?

The contractor layoffs will be announced tomorrow in lieu of the May projection announced yesterday. The reduction to 32 hours has now turned to layoffs for contractors.

Naw Ford was in trouble long before the covid19.
Some of the posters have identified systemic Ford culture problems that inhibit Ford from profitably building the cars, vans, suv, trucks customers want while making them safe, affordable and reliable.

So now we are going to start pointing fingers at each other and claim we are more deserving of work than the other people? How about we focus on the real problem here: the leaders of this country decided to close everything down, creating a crisis that they will try to solve the same way they try to solve every crisis - borrow printed money, lay people off, lower the value of our assets, cut our pay and give it to government, corporations and banks. WE ARE BEING ROBBED AND YOU WANT TO ARGUE ABOUT WHO THE BEST HOSTAGES ARE.

@exz+14fHTqHo hey no one said their LL6 was working 32 hours/week. I think you have it mixed up. as someone said down below about the 2 -3 hours/day - that is more like it. When we have a scheduled meeting my LL6 sits in the back of the room like an element school principle would in a class room evaluating the teacher. Rarely any input at all. Really does not know the job at all imo.

Most days he acts like he/she is a web ex or on a conference call. Most days regurgitating corporate compliance notes back to us GSR's and of course assigning work.

@ywx; I think your being generous at 32 hours a week of valuable work. My guess is it is less then that. Note to all GSRs out there, this applies to you too. Not just a LL level problem.

What’s wrong with taking a few hours off during lunch to have beer or two? Your not an uptight snitch are you?

@xrk+14fHTqHo "CAD designers to be gone for several hours during the day as they left the office to work on their boats"

What's wrong with that? It was only once a year.

Old timers will remember when Adray Appliance in Dearborn was called Building #6 because everyone went there during work hours.

When I hired in, it was common for some CAD designers to be gone for several hours during the day as they left the office to work on their boats.

Typical stuff at any large company.

It is common knowledge that most LL6 do little work. My LL6 reads history books at work all day. My husband who is retired saw my LL6 loading paint and garden supplies into his Explorer at Home Depot. It was 10 am on last Tuesday. My LL6 calendar showed he was in a two hour meeting with another LL6 at that time. It appear they are adapting to ‘working’ from home just like they ‘work’ in the office.

I don’t know why this company insists on preserving a six tier leadership tree. A good starting point would be to eliminate every other level. Eliminate level 1, 3, 5. Then start trimming the do nothing 6s.

I have been told by an LL6 straight up if he/she was actually working more than 2 - 3 hours/day they were inefficient at their position.

Most Ford salary workers don’t put in more than 32 hours of real work in any week.

Does this workweek reduction only apply to contractors?
