They don't take on the debt. It's the assets that are for sale. Some assets/plants require much more capex and repairs/maintenance than others. Some plants have valuable real estate. Others do not.

Strategic investors, like DFA, Saputo, Blue Bunny, distributors, etc., as well as financial investors/PE firms have investigated the opportunity.

Neither would be my guess, both are large corporations that could not justify to stakeholders why adding non profitable debt laden facilities to their portfolio would be a good idea.
