Thread regarding Home Depot Inc. layoffs

Depot is acting somewhat responsibly with regards to Covid19. Lowes on the other hand...

From what has been said elsewhere and what friends at stores are telling me - Lowes is not following any guidelines to prevent the spread of CoVid19. There is little or no social distancing in stores. There is no soap or paper towels in the bathrooms. The bathrooms and work areas are not being cleaned at several locations. Lowes is experiencing record sales because customers are coming in to buy non-essentials. Most essential items are sold out at Lowes stores. Lowes has become a gathering place for people who are bored and refuse to accept the reality of the coVid19 situation. There are large numbers of people coming into Lowes with families and dogs simply because they have nothing better to do. Lowes has purposely NOT limited the number of customers in the stores as a sales strategy to outdo Home Depot who is acting responsibly by limiting the number of customers in their stores as well as limiting operating hours. It is quite obvious Lowes does not care about the health and safety of their employees nor do they care about the safety of the general public. It is business as usual at Lowes right now and they are acting as if nothing is going on in the world. Please spread the word to your local health department if this is the case in your area. I have forwarded a similar message to my local health department after verifying with associates at local stores. We are not trying to shut down jobs here. But Lowes needs to be held accountable and engage in safer business practices like Home Depot instead of profiting at the expense of us all. Check out the Lowes layoff forums. It is much worse than here. I am posting here because this affects us all. I'm sure some of you know people who work at Lowes and have heard how they are handling this situation.

Lowe’s is doing as they should with extra precautions for COVID 19. Adding glass/plastic in between customers at registers to prevent Coronavirus spreading. Constant sanitizing of pinpads and other devices. Maintaining social distancing of 6 feet minimum and taping off directions in stores for customers to follow paths. Requirement of masks and gloves for associates. Curbside pickup as needed for customers and some stores/regions. Proactively adding needing product at stores and supply chains to keep America going. Closing stores early for extra sanitizing and cleaning. Being an essential business in a time of a pandemic to our country. What was it again that LOWES wasn’t doing?

Lowe’s was behind the curve, but finally got their a*s in gear. Most stores are limiting crowd size and cleaning protocols have been put in place. Haven’t seen the promised ppe in our store yet. Stores close at 7 pm. Gotta get that extra hour over HD, you know.

If Marvin had become your CEO your board on here would be blowing up now instead of Lowe's. Lowe's lackluster Covid19 response is just another in a string of blunders since he took the helm. It's like Twilight Zone meets Inception (the movie). You have to be living it to understand how surreal it all has become.

Lowe’s associate here, what the OP said is true. Marvin cares more about the profits than he does his people.

OP works at lowes. lowes has a lot of whiners in the ranks – just look at their board. lowes workers are foolish enough that they want to get their stores shut down in hopes theyll be able to make more on unemployment.

yeah...hows that all working out for the other major retailers that have now furloughed their employees.

these mo–ns are going to be at the local food pantry come september when it all runs out for them!

Our GOVERNORS and LOCAL LEADERS need to be doing more for us!
State and Local Government Responsibility and Accountability for Health Crisis Preparedness
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK201073/
"The GOVERNOR, in particular, is ultimately responsible for his or her state’s emergency planning and response actions and for ensuring that effective CSC planning occurs."

And "… the state department of health often is in the best position to ensure that state, regional, and local CSC planning and implementation efforts are occurring and that they are being conducted systematically—that is, consistently, in a coordinated manner (i.e., within and across state boundaries), and in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations."

Where is the accountability for our state and local governments NOT being prepared for the pandemic? Do Americans believe the best answer was to have our local health care system and disaster preparedness federalized vs locally and privately run?
