Do you think our Hazard Pay is fair?

Trust me, you do not want to receive hazard pay from this company. Management will find a way to get that pulled from your pension or future earnings. Essentially, you will just be getting an advance of funds from something you have already earned! This management will NEVER give you something out the graciousness of their heart because they cannot relate to what it actually takes to get work done in the field. They believe all the policy and process changes has made your job easier and more efficient, when in reality I have more scar tissue on my a** over the last few years than at anytime before. First 10 minutes of every job is listening to the customers vent about how screwed up or hard your company is to work with. But somehow all we keep hearing is how GREAT the customer experience is now...where are all these happy customers??! No, I am not just talking repair, New Installations as well.
As stated here several times for those that have not been able to read between the lines of company rhetoric and then backed up by the actions set in place...you are nothing more than a number to this management. With all the new simplified processes, a field technician is...A knuckle dragging box changer that can be replaced by any monkey willing to put up with the c-ap they hand down. They feel they are to the point of plug and play field techs...as long as you have a phone, laptop and DB9 cable the "brains" behind the phone can walk them through the protocol to get the job done. Hell, we used to be able to get things done on the fly when things went awry, try getting something done like that now!?! The "brains" on the other end of the phone are great at their protocol script but once something goes awry...putty in the brain. Unable to think outside of the box because they dont know enough about the box other than their small side. IF this industry was standardized they may have a chance with this setup however...I have not seen a standardized network or LAN. DSL sure, but not small, medium, government, educational and enterprise business...which is where they want to be going forward; not the large turnover, price jumping Residential market! Stay safe out there
I am CTL tech the only thing I got was 1 bottle of hand sanitizer and a lot of emails from people that are sitting at home saying more is coming for 3 weeks.
What job function and area is that.
Network Tech, LQ, WA
Yes the extra $0.00 really helps in these trying times.....
My thoughts
Att techs are getting an extra 8.00$ an HR added to their pay, Ctl has not even offered nothing but, the so called emergency 80 hrs PTO. We were told work or lose job. Also we have no protection other than disinfect wipes and very little sanitizer, no masks at all... We are just a liability to Ctl, we are unvalued techs out in the field...
"We have been getting approved with no problem in my area."

We have been getting approved with no problem in my area.
"Hazard pay would be an incentive to jeopardize our health at a time when no one seems to know the exact degree of threat that this virus poses. In the absence of the extra pay I’d encourage anyone who qualifies, to use the extra 80 hours of paid time off rather than expose yourself and your family to an unknown threat for a company that views and treats you like a necessary evil on a daily basis. "
But you have to qualify, I asked and had good reason my spouse has several severe conditions, COPD being one and her breathing condenser malfunctioned and we ran out of oxygen as a back up so she went to the Hospital, they sent her back home with EMT's saying she had a terminal case and that if she stayed in the Hospital with so many people with COVID 19 and lack of space she would get sick. The next day I asked about the leave to stay and take care of her. They said no because we were not diagnosed with the Virus. My SRO had to run it up the chain of command to HR and they made the decision, in fact neither I my SRO or anyone I have talked to has heard about someone getting approved to aide and take care of someone or even child care. It is a publicity stunt and rhetoric to make them look good and act like they care, how's that PPE gear coming along also.

Comcast is paying Hazard I heard nothing on Verizon that I heard.
No amount of money is enough to put your health at risk.
Really 6 figures every year since the 90s you my friend are a liar, you forget everyone here work a the same f’ing place as you if you made at least $3.6 mil why the F are you working after 60. No need to answer we already know everything you say is exaggerated
I am over 60 and still an outside tech. I have made six figures every year since the 90s. How does that make me stupid? Now, granted, the fact I am out here working with coronavirus going on is not real smart, I give you that, but damned if i am kissing a– to get emergency PTO approved.
I see somebody posted Verizon techs getting extra pay....I’m one, and I haven’t heard a peep about extra hazard pay yet
When companies like Albertsons and maverick are giving raises and hazard pay, along with att and Verizon, we know centurylink doesnt give a c-ap about their employees, I'm sure they just will use the covid19 as a reducing of employees action

Should we get hazard pay every flu season? The only thing hazard pay would do is bring up moral some in a bad time.
You’d change your attitude if you got Covid-19 or someone from your family dies. The seasonal flu is not a national pandemic and currently has no vaccine. Do you live under a rock or still stuck in mommies basement? There is a flu shot available every year for Americans to eliminate or minimize complications if contracted.
