Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM UK Give Some GTS and GBS Staff 1Years Salary Redundancy Payment While Rest Get Statutory Minimum

It’s been confirmed that there’s a third redundancy consultation going on in UK where NONE of the staff have any terms in their contracts of employment that entitle them to a defined redundancy payment. It’s also been confirmed they’re to receive a years salary as a payment, not statutory minimum which IBM UK states is their policy. It’s on a specific account where there’s a mixture of GTS and GBS people.

IBM refuses to comment on why they would do this but it is noted the circa 60 employees on the bigger payout are represented by a trade union.

Come on IBM. Be the company you used to be, especially at this time. Be fair and give everyone a decent payout.

Yip the 60 staff mentioned are on the Scottish Power account and they are getting a years salary as redundancy payment (FACT) for no good apparent reason while the rest get the statutory minimum laid down by the uk government ie the bare minimum IBM can get away with.

The statutory minimum payment isn’t based on ibm salary and it’s much lower. For most between 1-2 months salary depending on service and age.

Curious what the statutory minimum is if a year’s salary is not considered good?

I think they stand a better chance of winning the lottery than IBM paying 1 year salary to walk away.
LOL thanks for the laugh, I needed that.
