Intels most effective fab is in China, selling the highest technical NAND in the world(most capable QLC and reliably pushing out new generations in a strong cadence). Huge potential in China and synergy especially for that tech. Why should Intel move out of China and give up there fabs to China? Not like they can sell the fabs to China, would all get nationalized. Only thing I can assign your fear to is worried about them outshining the US fabs, which as far as I can tell they have already done. If I was top brass even with the current global geopolitical uncertainty, I would still look at what else I can shift to this motivated workforce in China that delivers on the challenges rather than the dysfunction I see in the US where self congratulation is nauseating and they only thing consistently delivered is delays and confusion.
As for TSMC in AZ, maybe when Foxconn finishes coming to Wisconsin, TSMC will actually break ground in AZ, much easier to commit then to complete. Especially in an election year.
