Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Ex-employee’s perspective on Mattel’s demise

I have worked at many Fortune 500s, including Mattel when it was one. Management is terrible. They lack vision, execution and courage to adapt. I thought that getting a CEO from the entertainment industry was a smart move, but most of the other same people remain. Morale was so low and the true leaders were not recognized that the company is brain dead. Everyone that was good has left. Mattel will one day be a Chapter in Business Books as how not to run a company.

The people who like to work there are aholes who will do whatever it takes to keep their jobs. Backstabbing, cooking the books to make their financials look good, you name it.

Wow, this thread is crazy! I got laid off with the December 2017 group. So glad to be gone! Completely changed my life for the better. That place was a wonderful place to work in the 90s and 2000s. Good management team, Lots of camaraderie across brands and location. Stock was not as high as it had been but it was in the 20s and 30s. Sounds like a hell hole now. So glad to be gone...life REALLY is better once you leave that dying dinosaur.

Don’t even get me started on the level of SVP incompetence, those overpaid butt kissers are worthless.

The only ones who like it are the overpaid EVPs and SVPs who give themselves bonuses and raises while laying off the little guys.
