As a store manager, I have to, in good faith, tell all associates I don’t think Belk will be able to survive for much longer, please start looking at new job opportunities, and if you are a regional manager I encourage you to pressure the powers that be above you to come clean with employees and release a memo to all employees about what is going on, don’t sugarcoat it, don’t try to put some type of half a– corporate spin on it, just tell them flat out what the situation is, everyone knows something is terribly wrong here, we just want to know exactly how bad it is.

Yes sales are great and so is traffic but it does seem desperate. All the cuts they've done to the associates is terrible and now working people into stressful desperation.
Traffic in the store is really heavy and it's busy, but Belk is selling everything at such deep, unheard discounts right now. Are they really making any money or just moving lots of inventory out of desperation? Will they bounce back or continue to fall despite the fact high sales dollars? Only time will tell.

No company that is behind in vendor payments, rent payments, cutting employee benefits, cutting store hours prior to covid, not giving employees cost of living raises, not renovating stores, cutting employee perks is doing well

I worked for Belk in the 1980s when John Belk would actually walk the store at Christmas and shake hands and hug the employees, he also took the ENTIRE store to dinner one Sunday as a thank
You (I can’t remember for what), he would be shocked to see what the store has become, The people running belk today should be ashamed, and they should take the Belk name off the buildings.
Lisa Harper is a disgrace, she does not give a rats a– about Belk, her intention is to extract as much money from the company as she can, run it into the ground, so herself, Hendricks, Riggs, and the other two can walk away with hundreds of thousands or in her case millions of dollars, This is nothing more than a house of cards waiting to collapse any minute, run by grifters.

Belk thrives on hiring people they think are not astute, that’s why they want to rid themselves of employees who were hired years ago, when the Belk’s owned the company, they don’t want them to compare the two different methods of operating the company. Whenever a company is keeping the financials of the company a secret, it is time to get the hell out.
I guess they think that employees are to dumb to look at the business side. Not all but some know how bad it is and the ones that don't read or pay attention just trust what's being told to them.

They claim in our store that business is booming and we are doing great. Traffic is definitely great but from the inside it's horrible
Belk is hiding behind covid-19 as an excuse to not be transparent with employees, the situation was bad months before covid hit the united states.
