It's too late now but the ugly truth is GAC could have saved a lot of jobs if they had the foresight to call the ball and terminate a program that was doomed from day one. They have spent millions on this program and it's know closer to coming on line today than it was from the day GAC signed the contract. SAP. The LT should have realized long ago the pitfalls but someone said full stream ahead, This is my baby and we are going to make it work know matter what. I would have to assume that GD knows what's been spent as well which is more cause for concern.

A former Beechcraft quality manager interviewed for a spot in my department. He said SAP put them out of business because it interfered with billing. He didn't elaborate any further.
Honestly if we would use it the way it was intended, instead of customizing it to make it fit the "way we do things," it would work a million times better...as would all of our software. Be adaptable and listen to the reasons why it is necessary instead of criticizing what you perceive to be a bad business decision, please. When we try to improve the systems that support business processes without any openness to change on the business side, or understanding why the change is necessary...well, no matter what you do, it will fail. Blaming software is not the answer. I suppose we all think it's best to build multi-million aircraft using unsecured Excel spreadsheets and Access databases with as many manual manipulations of data that we can possibly squeeze into a day, based on software platforms that are at least 20 years old. Until you have tried to do any kind of metrics review on a global level at this company, you will not understand how critical some of these changes are for all of our futures. SAP was introduced because leadership NEEDS a way to see how we are doing across the board. You have no idea how difficult it is to gather data from 500 people in their own spreadsheets all formatted differently showing different numbers and levels of detail...and actually be able to make an intelligent decision on that. We all want to do the right thing for the company. Please try to understand before stones are cast, that we all have an integral part to play to make this happen.
I’m in favor of anything over the thousands of “apps” developed by non programmers that leak data all over the place and don’t talk to each other. They are a security nightmare
SAP is not a good product for a 21st century business. Bloated, hard to use, features galore, expensive. Someone on this forum mentioned out current CIO was a SAP person so that may explain it. People early on were questioning the move to SAP and they got pushed aside. Hope our CEO reads this and starts asking questions.
Agreed, SAP has been such a sh– show with no end in sight.
