Who finds out about vsp offers?

I am considering making an offer for the vsp but feel like it will be awkward in the office if my manager knows I submitted an offer and it isn’t accepted. Anyone know the extent of the people that find out we submitted an offer? Also, do you think offering black lists us going forward?

Nah, your manager is probably too busy filling out their own proposal right now. They are probably too worried about their own jobs to worry about yours. And even if they aren’t, the company will look so differently in a few months that it won’t matter.

As for awkwardness, I think most people understand that the situation is fairly dire right now, and people have a variety of personal reasons to apply for the voluntary package. There are people who have a working spouse and need to stay home with their kids because of COVID-19. Others may have a severe medical condition and fear going back into work. There are others who, believe it or not, are willing to take a package to save the job of someone else who might need it more. That’s part of my motivation. I’ve had a good run. If one of you needs your job to feed your kids, I hope my volunteering helps.

I doubt that there are very many people leaving because they have another job lined up right now. It’s not greed. It’s your life. It’s not personal between you and your manager. Don’t make it personal. If your manager finds out, probably the best thing is just to tell them you have personal reasons for applying and that it isn’t because of anything they did. Just getting things out in the open will reduce the awkwardness.

If you’re LOXY, this speaks volumes about your organization. I would never have feared to be open to my manager about leaving or VSP or any other matter frankly. Man/woman up and take care of your business.

Agreed, I took the VSP (last day was a week ago) and nobody had an issue with me. I even looked into rescinding it and everyone was super supportive. For the most part we all know it’s a dumpster fire and you have to do what’s best for you. Good will from your somebody who judge you otherwise is worthless. It’s scary but if walls are closing in, it’s better to have some say in the matter.

You will not get blacklisted if they dont accept it. You need to submit it if you think you will get let go or want to leave that way you get some severance now!
