Backblaze says it all. You should take anything they say with a grain of salt. Their rack design is very poor for vibration and thermals and they expect drives to perform just like a big tech companies rack? If you still think highly of them, remember these are the folks that buy externals on sale and shuck them for the drive and expect it to perform like a verified enterprise drive.
Over the years I've probably bought 15 Seagate drives. I've probably had 4 or 5 die within 3-5 years.
That's actually not great. Two of them had their replacements die within a year.
30 plus years of using Seagate drives, SCSI, Fiber, SATA, SAS etc, and I have never had a failure with my personal stuff. Some of my customer's have had failures but HDDs can fail. Ridiculous talk.
It doesn't. Just another disgruntled employee (or ex) who is just trying to make the company look bad. Could be a WD troublemaker too.
What does this have to do with layoffs?
- 6 % OMG. Did they also share the cost savings? Odd Seagate drives have always had a higher failure rate with this company, yet they buy so many.
