L5-8 to be 50% wiped out over the next few weeks. Includes more senior technical roles as well as managers. Appears to be no consideration of the impact to delivery. Slow motion car wreck.

I think you haven't looked at the organisation structure diagram if you believe levels five to eight are purely managers.
That's the problem with this stupid plan.
Plenty of technical people in those ranges, senior technical people ie the ones who actually understand the technology.
You could I guess use another word.. Older ... which fits with the previous practice of ageism.
Mike S could be going in right direction if he squashes down the ineffectual and inefficient "yes" men in middle management; get rid of the dross and allow the people in the coal face work efficiently with our remaining clients - repair the damage and grow.
