Help with Unemployment Income

Hi,
GAC HR isn’t responding... so maybe someone knows. They said they applied for UI on our behalf. How are we supposed to get the money ? There is a pin to setup/reset on Georgia DOL, but it doesn’t seem to work. Anybody successful ?

You are very welcome, it happened to me too. You might already figured out you need to deduct 1.50 from the amount.

Thank you! I was wondering why it would not transfer the full amount!

One suggestion for the card, if you have the time to wait 3 days you can transfer the money to your bank account for 1.50.

I didn't go to the DOL website until after the 8th. I signed up for direct deposit, but it didn't "take" and my first two payments were on the debit card (including the extra $600). I got the ATM card late last week and have been pulling the cash out as fast as I can. I don't need two debit cards in my life.

The one thing I DON'T know is whether we have to go in every week and "report." A buddy of mine (non-GAC) got laid off back in Feb and he has to do that. But the DOL website seemed to indicate that we don't have to do that. Anyone know for sure?

I have received unemployment and received the extra $600. This amount is taxable so make sure you take that into consideration. After taxes it was an extra $506 on top of the Georgia unemployment. The first payment I received came on a debit card, but then I selected to have it directly deposited in my account.
If you don't know your pin, go to the GA website under Individual Services and select Reset Your Pin. This gives you the option to select your own pin even if you don't know it. Hope this helps.

Nothing yet from UI, but I’m sure glad I filed right away because when I got the call today HR didn’t know anything about it and said that something was filed for today being the last official day. I think it takes 21 days to get the UI benefits.

Sounds like the 300$ is available. Anybody knows anything about the extra 600$?

No unemployment yet. Just another example of GS giving it up our A$$es. Execs picked up their moms on Mother’s Day in company planes to be together. We get screeeewwwed.

Do we have to wait for the debit card to come in the mail to setup the PIN?

Has anyone part of the 5/1 layoffs gotten the debit card yet?

Sorry, wrong PDF. It's this one: Next Steps for Employees Whose Employers Filed for Them

Try going here: https://dol.georgia.gov/employer-filed-claims and reading the PDF entitles "Next Steps for Employees Filing Partials" That's what worked for me. Once I set up my PIN, I was able to see my benefit amount.

How it worked for me is it took about two weeks for a letter to arrive that I was submitted for unemployment. Then a week or so later I got another letter to set up my PIN and direct deposit, but your first payment is a debit card. Another week went by and I got the debit card, activated it, and the next day the funds were available. Future payments will go direct deposit.

You will get a debit card in the mail. I think that’s when you call to set up your pin. I haven’t gotten any more correspondence either. If you need more assistance you can file for food stamps. https://gateway.ga.gov/access/accessController?id=178abc1ffe0b939056317fe47

Not at all. DOL isn't responding to my claim request. I was hit back in October. HR did not apply for UI on my behalf. Submitted my claim last month. Still nothing. Good luck on getting any funds from them!
