People who have been laid off in the past several weeks, what are your plans for the future? I believe my time might be coming sometime before the end of the month, and I've never been this scared of losing my job. With the entire industry in shambles, I'm not sure where to turn for a new job if I need one. What is everybody else doing?

That’s the pitfall of working in places like Savannah. It’s either GAC or the Port. Get fired and laid off and you have to uproot your whole family. Sell your house, pack your bags, and good luck. I heard some of the Long Beach guys already found jobs in neighboring airports, and a couple with operators. I guess there is a positive to living in California. Business aviation is plentiful.
I'm closer to 60, than 50. So my prospects are worrisome, although I've had two pretty good interviews this week. I could just retire and be ok if I were careful with cash. Really don't want to have to move again at this point. Wife and I didn't care for Savannah when GAC recruited and moved me here. Schools were so bad and we have smart kids. Kids are now launched after a fortune went to Country Day. Savannah has grown on us. Got to tell you, I used to beat everyone into the office by a good hour and a half because I'd wake up at 3:30 a.m. thinking of all the problems I needed to deal with each day. I was never the first to skate out the door at the end of the day. I have slept more soundly than I have in years knowing someone else is having to put out the fires.
This is a blessing. Leave this cheap place.
I was part of the October RIF. My suggestion to you is start preparing now just in case you are let go. Put aside a little more money. Update your resume. Update your LinkedIn profile. Set up job alerts on LinkedIn and other platforms. Don't waste time worrying. Don't wait to be asked to leave to do something. Take action now. Good Luck.
I'm leaving. Sick and tired of the politcs. Since early 2000's, a culture of fear has been established.
