Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

The G650 is trash.

Talk about a classic bait and switch. Customers thought they were getting a next generation G550 but instead got a Bombardier design with oval windows and a clean wing. The G650 design and build quality are complete trash. What customers got is a main entry door that doesn’t close and leaks during flight. They got a c-appy wing with flaps that are complete garbage. G650 flaps have the same wear as commercial jets with thousands of cycles after a mere handful of flights. Then you have the interior problems, talk about polishing a t–d. Customers expected custom and flawless interior but instead got a cookie cutter trash design and build. Trailer and RV manufactures design and build better interiors than Gulfstream at this point. Management has flushed the brand down the tubes folks and unlike during past recessions, the brand carried company. This time around the brand is trash and customers are walking to the real value that other business jet manufacturers offer.

Chafing harnesses. Clicking columns. Misaligned mounting brackets. And I thought losing sleep year after year over fixing that sheet from c-appy suppliers was valuable to the program. Adios muchachos! Not letting the door hit me.

Popping and thudding wing links are another fine situation. "It's all ok Mr. Principal. Sit back down in your seat but be careful you don't smash your fingers into the ledge."

Yeah. The seats were a fiasco. Some customers were trying (I don’t know if they succeeded) to return some G650s due to quality issues. The fuel lines were another great moment. I’m also well aware of the supplier nightmare and also procurement’s crazy spending to just get c-ap in the door ( and I mean c-ap when I say c-ap). The FedEx bill was surreal. Overnight everything on the GAC account. A little nonsense is to be expected with a new aircraft but it was a little over the top. Then enter the Great Christmas RIF of 2015.

Had a lot of emed and flap components come across my desk. Also fright-by-wire stuff. Gee wilakers Waids-ally! How many 650s have gone to special missions?

Original pax seats in 650 were terrible. Built by car seat company. Not aircraft component. Several shipsets completely replaced after deliveries. Frames were rusting before installation. Another example of inappropriate corp. decisions. Top Men. Only care about the perceived quality and liability exposure.69

G650 SMH. C-appy low bidder suppliers. Rockwell Collins defunct. C-ap from Parker. Tried for years to clean up GAC and supplier messes. It was like swimming in molasses fighting the inertia with guys. And they dump me? F—ck em. Already have two offers.

Dude, get out now and do everyone a favor, if you don’t like the environment or product find something else to milk.
