This is not on Amazon. Why is what is happening now any different from when Barnes & Noble didn't think twice before putting who knows how many independent bookstores out of business? Let me tell you - it isn't any different. This is simply the best example of "what goes around comes around" I have ever seen.

Plying Devils Advocate.
I get what you’re saying . But a lot of those fired had their careers with the company. 10-15-20 years. That’s why they’re hanging out here and want BN to fail. That was their life. Can’t blame them really.
I don't agree with how they said it, kinda blunt, but yeah, this place is not exactly
a plethora of accurate information.
Just seems like the folks that were laid off, can't get over it, and use this thing to vent.
I think if i got dumped by B&N, i'd quickly lose interest of the company and their daily
operations.
I'm still with em, but if i got laid off tomorrow, i dont think i'd be hanging around here
years after the fact.
“ Based on various comments, it sounds like a DM is behind theses posts. The tone is exactly the same.”
Must be ! Only ones who would be defending this dumpster fire of a badly run company.
Based on various comments, it sounds like a DM is behind theses posts. The tone is exactly the same.
And you come on here for two years , complaining about people who complain about how they were treated.
It's not healthy, it's actually pretty pathetic.
I said "people", not "person."
So learn how to read, first.
And it is a group of disgruntled "exes" who refuse to move on, and accept they were laid off.
It's over two years, and still, STILL, the same beating of the death knell drum.
It's not healthy, it's actually pretty pathetic.
No one cares if you shop at Amazon.
No one cares about your endless whining, over two years after the fact.
You got dumped, get over it.
Life isn't fair.
Go work in an Amazon warehouse.
Do something!
Although I’m not one ( before the crazy foil hat conspiracy believer 😉 accuses me of. )
of those fired in 2018. I completely understand their anger and continued disgust with the company that did them wrong. Many were lied to , many had 10 plus years, many were promised their positions were safe. I quit BN after they did that . I keep tabs on the company in hopes they get what they deserve. Couldn’t happen to a better company.
All the companies you mentioned were all talking about downsizing and all had laid employees off. The “virus” is a great excuse to blame , ( like BN is) when you were already struggling.
So. Yes. We. Were. RIGHT!
“ It's the same people on here, for over two years, salivating over some stupid
demise”
There goes that asinine conspiracy theory that it’s the same person posting.
Keep your foil hat on,to block those waves.
You were not "right."
What's happening is completely obvious, in the current retail landscape.
Barnes & Noble is not immune, just like J Crew is not immune, and Sears
is not immune, and macys is not immune.
Everyone is closing stores & laying off workers.
No one from the 2018 layoff, has any specific insight on anything.
It's the same people on here, for over two years, salivating over some stupid
demise, that everyone knows will most likely happen.
But it hasn't happened yet, so move on already.
“ It's more than two years after the fact, so the "i told you so" spiel, holds no water. ”
you’re WRONG, again! No one expected them to close stores , overnight. We knew it would take time. As much as you’d like to downplay, what we knew would happen...... WE were RIGHT !
The real thirst for revenge comes from the fact that many employees - current and former - came to a realization. Barnes and Noble lied to them. Now we can debate all day as to whether they should have known, the fact remains - Barnes and Noble made or implied things about your job security and/or your ability to rise in the company, that you discovered not to be true. It was a devastating realization. In some cases a fatal one as in you getting fired. So the trauma is real, and lasting. Many Barnes and Noble workers are young and inexperienced; some are older with fewer options. They knew they could exploit you. So they did. I say feel your rage. Better yet, let it flow!
Just some context. I quit voluntarily twice before 2018 ever happened. BN still deserves to go out of business for specific people at a store. The way they still treat people at this store is beyond evil.
My God, people are still here from the early 2018 layoffs?
At what point do you finally move on?
This happens with a ton of retail, it's never fair, but it's just the way it
works and we all must know this by now.
Why are you still whining about it & creating fake doom & gloom scenarios
for two years now?
It's more than two years after the fact, so the "i told you so" spiel, holds no water.
This place has lasted longer than even i anticipated, so going forward, it's not exactly
going to be a big shock or "AH-HA!" moment, so many of you are salivating over.
“One day I had a job, the next I didn't. “
Just like the February 2018 people.
“To say I'm bitter and angry is an understatement. Corporate well knew “
Just like the February 2018 people.
If you stayed after what they did- I don’t feel sorry for you.
If you took a job there after the 2018 firings- I don’t feel sorry for you.
Well isn't that all nice and dandy. My store closed. Permanently.
Lease was up, Corporate chose not to renew.
With the virus silliness in play, there has been no closure. One day I had a job, the next I didn't.
To say I'm bitter and angry is an understatement. Corporate well knew the store I worked at was going to close before the virus.
I wish y'all luck. You'll probably need it.
Prove to us the toys and puzzles are gone.
All the toys and puzzles are gone! It looks so good!
Positivity is running rampant.
Unless they made it a bookstore again, taking out all the toys ,puzzles ,games ,pop figures, it’s still the same old place
Not sure what a relay is in regards to a retail setting. You say the new store layout looks wonderful, etc. What did they do, move a few tables around and call it a day? Pathetic. They still deserve to go out of business.
That is great news!
B&N is coming back, post pandemic.
We're doing relays, and the stores look beautiful!
The company is taking advantage of the closed doors, and creating a better experience for
our customers, when stores reopen.
Some folks have been called back from furlough, and the mood is positive.
More Customer friendly stores ?
Why weren’t they customer friendly before?
Stuffed full of toys, games, gifts, pop figures.
They didn’t care about the customers before. Hardly any booksellers to help them.
Getting new books on the shelves in a timely matter.
Customers have to wait over a week after a release date to get a strict on sale book.
Refurbish your stores and brand name. It’s too late.
They are redesigning the inside of their stores and starting up curbside pickup in most states before they re-open with their NEW more customer friendly designs!
How true.
They were bigger than the independents and now Amazon is much bigger than them.
Karma at its finest !
